Sony Ericsson Satio
Posted by Lester Madden under Smartphones, Symbian
One of the guys here in the office managed to get hold of a Sony Ericsson Satio to play around with a few weeks ago.
He loves it and I must admit that it looks pretty hot.

New Nokia Devices, E72 & 5530 XpressMusic
Posted by Lester Madden under General, Smartphones, Software
Most of you will know that I love both my Nokia 5800 and my Nokia E71. I’m torn between them in a love triangle, I love the touch screen but I love the flexibility of a keyboard. The N97 will partly end my woes as I’ll have touch screen device with a keyboard. But it will only make me yearn for device with touch, keyboard, and HD screen. (a projector wouldn’t go amiss either) Nether-the-less it will keep me happy for a while.
In the meantime Nokia have announced a few other devices based on S60 5th Edition. (Symbian)
The E72 (click here for a review) which is an updated of the highly successful E71 and the 5530 XpressMusic (click here for a review) which is a 5800 clone.

Interested in beta testing mobile software?
Posted by Lester Madden under General
I had an interesting meeting yesterday with a company called Mob4Hire.
Mob4Hire is an interesting idea where developers can submit applications that they want beta tested, specify what functionality they want testing, on what devices and on what networks, in return they offer a cash incentive.

LG Xenon And General Catch-up

No blog for a few days. I setup a new blog dedicated to augmented reality and have been working on getting that ready. I installed a really complicated Wordpress theme for the new site that looked great, but I spent ages trying to get it to work. I’ve given up on that theme now and going to go for something a little easier to work with. Hopefully the newsite should be ready over the weekend.

3D Photo Browser For The Nokia 5800
Posted by Lester Madden under Smartphones, Software, Symbian
Do you ever get one of those days were you want to scream and kick your PC to pieces? Yesterday my laptop was doing the strangest things. When I tried to send an email I could type anywhere except inside the message area. I could write in the subject field, the email address field or any other application, but when I clicked into the message area text refused to be accepted.

BarCode Shopping – Nokia Point And Find
Posted by Lester Madden under Smartphones
I wrote about barcode shopping last month for the Google G1.
Nokia have launched a beta of their point and find service for UK and US users.
Using the phones camera you can point at barcodes and it if identifies a match you’ll get related information such as the best price.

Everybody Hates iPhone

No blog yesterday. I went to the opticians and they put some drops in my eyes and told me that I would be sensitive to light for a few hours. Looking at my monitor was like looking at a million suns.

Nokia 5730 XpressMusic

When I first got my Nokia 5800 last month I have to admit I missed my Nokia E71 and the keyboard. I couldn’t see myself using the 5800 for too long. One month later and I’m still using it and I am in no rush to change it. And you know me I like to change my phones.

Universal Phone Charger – Finally
Posted by Lester Madden under General, Smartphones, Travel
One of my pet gripes about travelling is having to pack an assortment of chargers. A journey to the US and I end up with chargers for my laptop, phone, music device and sometimes my PSP. I have a few phones and it gets annoying to arrive only to find I have the wrong charger, or the phone wont charge from USB. Good news, all 5 of UK’s mobile phone companies have agreed to a standard micro USB style charger.

LG Watch Phone
Posted by Lester Madden under Gadgets, General, Smartphones
At Mobile World Congress 09 last week there was, as you’d imagine an abundance of mobile phones. I went for a walk around the 8 exhibition halls and have to admit after a while it was pretty hard to focus any more, all the mobiles started to blur into one. One thing that did stand out though was the wrist watch phones on the LG stand.
