Universal Phone Charger – Finally

One of my pet gripes about travelling is having to pack an assortment of chargers. A journey to the US and I end up with chargers for my laptop, phone, music device and sometimes my PSP. I have a few phones and it gets annoying to arrive only to find I have the wrong charger, or the phone wont charge from USB. Good news, all 5 of UK’s mobile phone companies have agreed to a standard micro USB style charger.
It’s not just an effort to make travellers lives easier but an excellent idea to be kinder to the environment as the standard includes a 50% standby energy reduction over current chargers.
I wonder if this is paving the way for phones to eventually be shipped without a power lead? Think about it, if all our devices use the same charger would it be necessary to have yet another charger in the box?
Would you by a phone without a charger?

I agree Lester, and think coreless devices with a uniformed format would be great. I have so many cables sticking out the back of my desk its crazy.
