Cool Phones From MWC09

At MWC09 I took a walk around the event looking for my next phone. Yeah I know what you’re thinking, last week I got a Nokia 5800, the week before I got a Samsung I8510, and three weeks ago I got the Nokia E71. Next week I am going to try and get hold of a Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. It’s not a phone, more of an ultra mobile PC based on Linux. A man needs hobbies.
During my walk around the event I took a few photos, I didn’t capture everything, but here are a few models that caught my eye and made it on to my shopping list:
- Nokia E71: In silver doesn’t this look fantastic?
- Nokia E75: Looks great, keypad and qwerty
- Nokia N97: Lots of people asked me about this baby.
- Nokia E66: Silver looks so cool
- When you are asked for your MWC pass, you had better show it
- Way better than any N97
The good thing about marketing is you learn to appreciate that phone models come in different packages.
We had a prototype of the new Samsung Omnia on our stand. Man that is one fine looking phone. It’s like the Nokia 5800 in that it’s based on S60 5th Edition but has the usual Samsung flair. You can drag and drop widgets on multiple desktops, and the HD video is absolutely amazing. I have Sky HD at home but the quality on this baby almost made me shed a tear.
The other Symbian Foundation device that got announced was the Sony Ericsson Idou. I never got to see this one, but it has a 13 megapixel camera.
Just when I though the N97 was going to be my ideal device, I find I need the keyboard from the N97, the camera from the Sony Ericsson Idou and the screen from the Samsung Omnia. Oh and how about an optical zoom for the camera, and if it could be worn on my wrist as well then even better. I am developing a taste for watch phones.
