My first mobile

While I’m busy thinking about my next phone (which I think is sitting in the office waiting for me), I was having a chuckle about my first mobile.

I missed out on the Motorola bricks of the 80s and picked up a Motorola M300 flip phone from Dixons for about £300 some 15 years ago. At the time it was the dogs nuts, boasting a cool flipper to answer calls and 2 lines of text.

Battery life sucked with talk time of about 30-45 minutes, but it did come with 2 batteries. I don’t remember any games, I guess with such a limited display it didn’t have any but correct me if I am wrong. It certainly didn’t have SMS.

I had to get rid of it in the end. I woke up early one night and could hear someone in my bedroom saying, “hello… hello… HELLO..”. Some what disturbed I staggered out of bed thinking someone was in the house about to rob me. As I made my way towards the door I could hear the voice coming from my phone. It turns out that the phone developed a fault dialled someone from my address book. For some reason always the same guy, just at random times during the night. The guy it was ringing changed his number 4 times because of unwanted nuisance calls, I never had the heart to tell him that it was probably me.
